What I Do On A Typical Sunday

So I’m fairly certain that most people spend the weekend relaxing and resting-up for the week. While I do have total respect for all you full-weekenders out there, my weekend tends to be a bit different. I take Saturday’s off but usually work on my Domaining business all-day Sunday. It’s been a ritual I really look forward to as well as an important day of work for my business.

Yesterday we went to Malibu for a day on the beach and dinner on the ocean. It was a blast and I need a day like this every week. Today I woke-up in the morning, had breakfast and headed upstairs to my office to begin my day. As you know (or should know by know, geez!) Domaining is not a full-time thing for me. Thus it’s my weekday nights and Sunday that are when I get all my work done. It may sound stressful but if you love what you’re doing it’s not stressful – it’s inspiring!

When I started Domaining three years ago I wanted to see if I could build-up a few hundred dollars a month in passive income. Once I hit $1,000/month I was hooked. I’ve been hooked ever since and my revenue has continued to grow (in fact doubling so far this year vs. last!). I’ve developed a system that works for me and I share a lot of what I do with all of you.

I’m not saying that if you work on Sunday you’ll suddenly be successful in Domaining…instead I’m simply sharing with you what I do in my own business that’s worked for me. So if I still have your attention, first let me say “Thanks for reading!” and next let me share with you a typical Sunday for me!

9:30AM – Send emails to prospective domain buyers.

That’s right, I start-off my Sunday morning emailing ~100 prospective buyers for a few of my domains that I am currently selling. While selling domains isn’t a big part of my business I still do it and actively reaching-out to potential buyers is the best way to sell your names. I use Estibot to generate leads – this saves me literally 8-hours for each domain. Estibot has an amazing lead generation algorithm that finds people advertising for the keywords in your domain as well as related keywords and even similar registered names. I just started using this and so far have been blow-away at the amount of time I am saving. Before I used to do this manually which took about 8-hours per domain, but I’d get a good 50-60 leads so it was usually worth it.

11:30AM – Email

Sunday is the day for me to catch-up on any emails I couldn’t get to during the week. I always want to make sure I’m getting back to people quickly and responding to every single email I get. If you read this blog and you send me an email – you can expect to hear back from me! The same is true of all of my other web properties! With each site I add I also add a few more emails a month!

1:00PM – Blog

I usually start by doing some weekly maintenance on the blog. New sponsors are added on Sunday and minor SEO tweaks are made. Then I write my Sunday blog post.

3:00PM – Linton Investments Site

Next I’ll be working on my company website making some minor changes and additions. We are adding a few new development options, lead generation sites, product sites (not aStore but custom-built store), and a 20-page content-killer site.

4:00PM – ccTLD Investors Post

I run an online magazine about ccTLD Investing. This is something that has now been added to the Sunday schedule as I need to start posting more frequently. With many projects going on at once Sunday is a great day for me to add something that I want to update on a weekly basis.

5:00PM – Kayaking.org

Kayaking.org get most of my personal attention in the development department right now. I am constantly reaching-out to people on Twitter as well as working on some custom PHP scripts I’m writing to make it easy to add kayaking stores and trip reports. Most of my time today will be spent with my coding hat on writing PHP. While I do have some great people in the Philippines that do development and coding for me I like to have at least one project where I’m doing the coding so I don’t lose my chops.

7:00PM – Credit/Law Network

I am building two 50-site credit and law networks. Love or hate the network concept I’m doing it, and with unique content in the same way that Wikipedia is. These are built by my team in the Philippines and Sunday is when I specify which sites I need created in the coming week. Typically my team builds 1-2 sites/week.

8:00PM – Monday Morning Blog Post

That’s right – I write a majority of my blog posts the night before. I have a very intense day-job so blogging during the day isn’t an option so most of my posts are written at around 8:00PM. Tomorrow I’ll have a great post about great domains that STILL haven’t been developed!

9:00PM – Glass of Wine, Hot Tub, Movie on Apple TV

That’s it, at 9:00PM I’m done and usually ready for a nice glass of red wine. Tonight there’s a good chance we’ll hop in the hot tub and then watch a movie on the Apple TV.And there you have it – my typical Sunday.

Feel free to share your typical Sunday with us!
