What time of the day do you read blogs?

Here’s a question that someone asked me today that I didn’t have a good answer to – what time of the day do you read blogs? I had to think about it for a minute, then I realized, my answer really is morning, afternoon, and night, in the morning I read WSJ and a mix of tech and domain blogs, during lunch I usually read TechCrunch and VentureBeat, after work, that’s mostly domain blogs. But safe to say, I visit Domaining.com at least three times a day.

Then I thought…I wonder if that’s normal?

Maybe not. Which then made me think, is there a time of day I could write my blog posts that would be optimized for my readers, so I thought I’d ask the question. I looked at a few different articles about blog post timing, many had the same general advice, Sundays are slow for views, weekdays minus Friday is solid, with Tues, Weds, and Thurs seeing the highest volume of blog posts but Thursday taking the top spot when it comes to social shares. Here’s a fun chart:

Best days blog posts

What I’ve always found interesting about Sunday is it’s a day that very few people write posts, but also happens to be a day that sees strong results on social. When it comes to time of day, many people suggested 9-5 offered the best opportunity to reach readers, with 3PM EST being the sweet spot. For me, it’s really hard to know because my readers are all over the world, and they also tend to spend all day in front of their computers, not just 9-5.

So I’m curious to know, when do you typically read blogs? If you care to share where in the world you are as well that will help to align with what morning or evening means to each of us! I’m interested to hear what everyone says.

You know the drill, comment and let your voice be heard.
