Why is bidding for ZYWX.com over $1,000 already with more than five days to go?

ZYWX.com

Every once and awhile I come across a domain auction that makes me wonder what I’m missing. As we all know, 4L .COMs used to bring in big bucks, especially if they were what are called “CHIPS” which essentially meant none of the characters were vowels or a few other letters.

When it comes to tracking the price of 4L .COMs and other liquid domains, GGRG.com is doing a darn good job of keeping up with the trends. Here’s the latest data on 4L .COMs specifically:

4L .COM
(read the full report here)

As you can see, the Median price for a 4L .COM is $435. I would expect to see ZYWX.com sell for less than the median given that it seems like a particularly bad combination of letters…but it’s over $1,000 with more than five days to go which means it could easily sell for over $2,000.

So I thought, ah – maybe this used to be a website and it has some valuable backlinks? So I went over to SEMRush and took at look…

Nope…it’s not that. So what the heck am I missing? Are people just getting carried away and bidding this domain up well beyond its resale value or is there something special about it that I don’t see.
