Why is upload.mn getting so many bids? Am I missing something…

So I was looking at expiring domain names on Park.io and noticed that Upload.mn had 14 bids and was currently at $3,600. I did a double take – did I miss something? When did .MN become a hot extension?

Looking at NameBio I can see records for six .MN sales:

While I’m sure there are more .MN sales out there, upload.mn could end up being the highest reported sale to-date…unless you know of some well known .MN sales that I’m missing. All this being said I have to say this is a bit of a head scratcher and I’m interested to see what Upload.mn ends up selling for.

What do you think? Why is there so much interest in upload.mn?

I don’t know if there’s any more to it than Mongolia locals showing interest.

I’m from Canada and you can bet that Upload.ca would have fetched much higher asking prices than $3600 this is currently sitting at. Not because .ca is “hot” but because there are 36+ million Canadians.

Mongolia shows 3M population and 1M net connected. It just takes a few folks interested in a very strong keyword domain, in their own country’s extension to get the bidding going. (And then others jump in because they think it’s a small silver mine they just discovered).

But I’d wager that the real interest just stems from Mongolia itself.

In Hungary (I’m also Hungarian), upload.hu would also command comparable prices.

I bought a .nu domain. Paid much more for it than this asking price — and worth much more to me than what I paid for it. 🙂

2 reasons,
1) strong keyword to the left of the dot
2) its a cctld and not a worth less new gtld.

Notice i said worth less and not worthless:)

That’s a traffic domain but, yes, it definitely is overpriced!
