Will the recent .WS emoji sales increase the value of .WS domains as a whole?

Lately I’ve been interested to see that some emoji names have been selling on NameJet, and in the .WS extension specifically. When I first saw an emoji .WS name on NameJet I didn’t think much about it, then I saw Page Howe tweeting about it and I decided to look a little closer. Page has been in the domain industry for a long time, I have a ton of respect for him and if he sees potential somewhere, I’m always interested in understanding more.

When I was looking at some of Page’s recent tweets I also noticed a link to an Efty portfolio page that Page runs located at https://buyemojis.ws/

Looking on that site I honestly see a list of domain names that I have no idea how to value since I’ve never bought or sold an emoji domain before, or a .WS name so it’s all new territory for me. My first thought honestly would be that these domains aren’t even worth reg fee…but looking at the sales data and bidding on NameJet it’s clear that there is some real interest since emoji .WS names have bids of $1,000+ on there right now.

While I don’t think I’m going to jump into the emoji .WS market right now myself, and honestly it looks like Page has cornered the market on a lot of the best emojis I can think of, this whole process made me think of something else. Will the buzz that this creates generate more interest in .WS domains and in the process increase their value?

It’s hard to know now, and I don’t own many .WS names myself but I can tell you that I’ve been seeing more about .WS thanks to these emoji domains than I think I ever have before. What do you think? Comment and let your voice be heard!
