Today WordPress pushed its latest update to the incredibly popular blogging platform and along with some shiny new features it also comes with a revamped look and feel. The new design is probably the biggest change I’ve seen in the WordPress since I started using it about five years ago.
They have definitely gone the Apple-route and flattened things out moving away from the more plastically, beveled look that was so popular in the early 2000’s. Here’s a first look at the new interface:
Of course you don’t have to stick with the default color, also a bit like Apple the admin now comes in a variety of different colors going back to the lighter grey we’ve all known for years or going wild with a red or purple.
Along with a snazzy new design they have a nice new magazine theme called Twenty Fourteen which also looks pretty darn slick. I can’t find any more features mentioned in the update outside of the design change but given how large the overhaul it is I can understand why they want to have the focus on the design.
Now my question for you, what do you think? A step forward or a step backwards?
