Yes you can go from hand registration to five figure sale in less than 90 days

Lately I’ve been really enjoying what I think we can call “Domaining Twitter” – with people spending more time inside it feels like we’re really hitting a good stride. I’ve never seen so many people sharing what they’re doing to forge their path in the domain name world.

One person who has caught my eye and continues to is Alex Verdea who focuses on flipping hand registered domain names. This morning Alex announced a pretty awesome sale:

Hand registered domain sale

Yes, that’s a two-word .COM that Alex hand registered less than three months ago that he sold for five figures, and it was an inbound sale.

Of course, stories like this should come with a “don’t try this at home” disclaimer to start. If you review Alex’s tweets over the last year you’ll see he’s put a lot of thought into learning which keywords perform the best and from what I can tell he seems to stick with my favorite kind of domain, two-word .COMs.

This is yet another example of why people who say that it’s too late to get into domain investing really are leaving money on the table. As I’ve said many times, I think these are still the early days and ten years from now people will be kicking themselves for not getting into domain investing sooner.

One of the best things about domain investing is the chance to constantly learn and improve your own strategy and in the end. Thanks to Alex for continuing to share his journey with all of us and congrats on the sale, safe to say it’s 🔥

Alex is a workaholic. My honest opinion is most domainers sell too cheap .So when there is a drought in sales, they complain too much .Sell high and you have enough to last you for couple of months until another sales comes in. Dont sell $100 and expect to sell one thousand names to have enough. One ,2 to 3 good sales can net you what can take care of lots of renewals and make more good liquid purchases .Stick to .com ,it puts you in advantage in negotiations also .Others do too but .com it is for me mostly and the next 2 extensions that I invest lightly on .

It is not too late to get in the game. The opportunities are still there but most don’t like to read and research. Lots of lazy domainers who get in and don’t want to put in the work. They rush in to buy the pigeon shit and cry next day for sales.

Invest time to read, read and research. Follow the top players in the industry and go read blogs like yours and others.I am still learning and would continue to.

Keep it up Alex and others who never stop putting in the work.

Absolutely agree with you about reading & researching! Actually, I love reading all new sorts especially technologies everyday & then do full research via Google before finding a good or quality two-word .COM for hand registration if only still available. I did once manage to sell one two-word .COM for $1200 in less than one month after registration!

There always has been tons of opportunity in domaining – and always will be.
Everything from buying 6 or 7 figure names – and selling them for even higher prices (a bit risky for most people), to hand registering names. And the reason why hand-reg is still a great strategy for most people is because lexicons are ever-changing based on shifts in consume tastes, world events (e.g., COVID), and technology.

I have always focused on future-trend and nanomaterials names. There’s no such thing as ‘flipping’ if you play that game, but in 10-20 years (if you’ve done your homework and have the patience) you will have a handful of fully-ripened ‘fruits’ in your portfolio that are category-defining and world changing. And the best part is that even as the ‘fruit’ is rip

I have no regrets going that route, but it’s not for everyone – and isn’t for anyone who needs to generate steady income from domaining.

This is a common way to sell is to have bought a good expired domain and get more or less 5 figures.
