You can now include a dot in your name on Twitter

There was a time when you could include a dot in your name on Twitter which meant for accounts specific to a website you could use the website name directly. Then the rules changed and you could no longer include a dot which lead to some strange names like something(dot)com which just looks weird.

Well I was just notified by one of my Twitter followers (thanks @NameSelling) that the dot is back. Since I have two Twitter accounts, one for me, and one for this blog that means that I can finally put in the Name rather than MorganLinton(dot)com. So now my blog’s profile on Twitter looks like this:

So if you’ve been waiting to get that silly (dot) out of your Twitter name, now you can.

I must have got the dot when they first had it because I have had it for years!

How did you manage to add the dot, Morgan? I tried just now and received an error message:

“Your username can only contain letters, numbers and ‘_'”

    Disregard. I see the distinction.
